First United Methodist Church is a vital and energetic church serving Laramie, with a membership over 400 and weekly worship attendance of approximately 200. During this school year, we offer two distinctly different worship styles: a traditional worship experience at 9:00 am and a contemporary / praise service at 11:10 am - both in our unique sanctuary. Whether you prefer time-honored worship forms or energetic and upbeat music, First UMC has something for everyone!
This year, our children's Sunday School has started a new adventure - Power Xpress. Graded classes after sharing a time of singing and celebrating together will split up to experience the same Bible story in several different ways over 4 to 5 weeks. The rotation model has been very successful in many churches and we are excited to bring it to our congregation.
We also have social activities for families with Movie Night twice each year, a Halloween carnival with proceeds going to UNICEF, and a Christmas program. Movie Night features a new release shown on a big screen in our fellowship hall, preceded by a pot-luck dinner! Kids are welcome to bring sleeping bags, PJs, etc ... and camp out on the floor (covered by carpet!) as they enjoy the family appropriate movie.
The people of First UMC invite you to sample the many ways that Christ is reaching out to the people of Laramie through this unique outpost of God's Grace. For 140 years the people of First UMC have served Jesus Christ with hands, feet, heart, and soul! There is a place for you at First UMC!
